Hey, guys,
No Only a Geek today. Instead, I thought I’d try something different. The other day, Jennifer and I took our youngest for a walk on a local hiking path. When we set out, we hadn’t intended to walk as far as we did and, thus, I wore flip-flops; which turned out to be kind of a mistake–not as big a one as wearing them on a 6-mile hike along the beachfront in Chicago, but that’s neither here nor there). See, the path is comprised of finely ground gravel, which translates into glass-like pebbles for those without proper footwear. All that aside, however, the poor choice in shoes did inspire an idea for a comic strip experiment as well as a title I find purely genius.
So, today, we’re going to take a step outside our usual geeky distraction and try out a new idea. If this pans out, I’ll probably shift Only a Geek to Monday updates and this new comic to Fridays, but you guys’ll have to let me know what you think.
And, speaking of experiments (of a sort), Brian sent me the link to his first video review last night:
He intends to make several immediate improvements to the format as early as the next review but, for his first time out, I think this is a pretty solid vid.
Okay, now, on to the new comic!
Without further ado, I submit…
…Don’t Wear Flip-Flops to the Apocalypse.
I’m a big fan of how it turned out and there are several influences behind the style I chose. Again, I want to know what you guys think so, please, comment away.
One more thing; about the ads. I decided to try my hand at monetizing the site and, thus, submitted an application to join WordPress’ Ad-Sense campaign about three weeks ago now. Turns out I was accepted and so, you’ll be seeing ads embedded in the bottom of the posts. So far, I’m pleased with their placement and lack of distraction from the rest of the posts. I hope this continues.
Till Monday!

HAHAHAHAHA! Ok, so it was fabulous, and I love the monochrome scheme because it works really well for a horror type strip. But I just can’t get over the “never wear flip flops to the apocalypse” because it’s just more proof of Nate’s claim that flip flops are the most useless shoes ever made.
